At Pivot, we’re always looking for ways to improve our wide array of capabilities, from product design to manufacturing and business development.
To that end, we’ve recently acquired two companies that will help us enhance our local resources for electronics engineering and manufacturing: the Shawnee, Kan.-based DigitTron and the Kansas City, Mo.-based Mid-Continent Custom Electronics (MCC Electronics).
DigitTron is a custom electronics manufacturer that specializes in circuit boards and touchscreen technology, two capabilities for which Pivot has continued to see growing demand. In addition, DigitTron’s facilities will allow us to build more prototypes, as well as offer short-run and full-run production at a local facility.
Acquiring DigitTron, which has 17 employees and a 14,000 square-foot manufacturing facility, will allow Pivot to continue to meet those demands in the most cost-efficient, quickest manner possible. We actually foresee the need to add more jobs at DigitTron, which will benefit both our clients and the local economy.
MCC Electronics, which we acquired in January of this year, designs and manufactures electronic products for a variety of industries – gaming, telecommunications, medical, agriculture, automotive, construction, and more.
Adding MCC’s excellent electronics and software engineering and manufacturing capabilities to our own will further improve Pivot’s abilities to serve our growing number of clients more quickly and efficiently.
While we remain committed to enhancing our global manufacturing assets in Asia and Europe, we’re also glad to be expanding our facilities here at home. That means not just in the U.S., but in our own locality (Pivot is based on Lenexa, Kan.). This is a move that we think is in line with the future of manufacturing, which will almost certainly move toward an increase in more localized solutions.
As our CEO, Mark Dohnalek, has said in a press release about the acquisitions, “I am committed to generating jobs, products, and revenue in the U.S.” We love our community and our country, and are thrilled that we can be a part of helping our economy grow while still providing our clients around the world with the global facilities that they need.
